PALM BEACH, Fla.--()--The Florida Society of Ophthalmology (FSO), the preeminent professional association for medical and osteopathic doctors who specialize in vision care, is pleased to announce that Krishna S. Kishor, M.D., received The Michael R. Redmond, MD Outstanding Young Ophthalmologist Award, at its Annual Meeting, Masters in Ophthalmology, held June 24-26 in Palm Beach, FL.

Established in honor of Michael R. Redmond, MD, this annual award is meant to recognize a Florida-based ophthalmologist younger than 40-years-old, who has demonstrated organizational leadership, service, competence and devotion to the high ethical and professional standards of the FSO.

Dr. Kishor is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. Dr. Kishor is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Kishor has been a member of FSO since 2010, serving as the Sub-specialty chair Glaucoma for the 2010 Meeting and as an Organizational Committee Member for the 2011 Meeting.

Dr. Kishor is also a current member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), and the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.

Dr. Kishor received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), and his Medical Degree from the Medical College of Virginia/VCU. He completed an internship at Riverside Medical Center prior to returning to his alma mater Medical College of Virginia/VCU for his Residency. Dr. Kishor completed a Glaucoma Fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, prior to joining the faculty in 2008. In addition, Dr. Kishor was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the Moorfields Eye Hospital in 2008.
