InternetSafety.com Provides “Conversation Starters” to Help Parents During Internet Safety Month

Delivers infographic on the evolution of online safety to aid dialog with kids and produces public service announcement to highlight public outreach

ATLANTA--()--In support of Internet Safety Month, InternetSafety.com, now a part of McAfee, today announced a comprehensive campaign to help parents enter into a meaningful dialog with their children about the dangers lurking in the Internet.

June has been designated Internet Safety Month by the United States Senate. To help parents understand Internet risks, InternetSafety.com has produced an infographic timeline that begins with the days when parents were blissfully unaware of the technological revolution, all the way to today when kids have access to tens of thousands of adult sites and cyberbullying continues to grow as a parental concern.

To further assist parents with responding to these evolving challenges, InternetSafety.com has also developed the Internet Safety Gameplan, a family contract focused on using the Internet safely. The Gameplan, highlighted in a new public service announcement, is a great way for parents to begin conversations with their children about tough subjects in how they interact with the Internet. The infographic and Gameplan can be viewed at www.internetsafetymonth.com.

“The timeline in the infographic offers an entertaining way for parents to understand just how different the world is now compared to when they were growing up,” said Stanley Holditch, marketing and product evangelist for McAfee Safe Eyes software. “The Gameplan helps parents address issues such as giving out private information, online relationships, and password protection. Combining good parenting with effective parental control software, such as McAfee® Safe Eyes® software (www.safeeyes.com), is the best way to keep our children safe from the dangers of the Internet while still allowing them to experience the benefits.”

McAfee Safe Eyes software is award-winning parental control software that blocks objectionable content and websites, and monitors searching, social networking, and other common browsing activities. It was named PC Magazine’s Editor’s Choice two years in a row, and won the National Parenting Center’s Seal of Approval in Fall 2010 and Spring 2011.
