US Lighting Tech Successfully Completes the World’s Largest Induction Street Lighting Project for New Jersey’s Largest Utility, PSE&G

IRVINE, Calif.--()--US Lighting Tech (www.usligthingtech.com), the leader in induction lighting, announced today that it has successfully completed manufacture and delivery of more than 110,000 of its patented Jersey Series Cobra head induction street lights for Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G), New Jersey’s largest electric and gas utility. The installation project was part of PSE&G’s “Green Street Lighting Initiative,” which replaces mercury vapor technology with induction—the largest green street lighting initiative of its kind in the nation. The completion of the initiative by USLT also marked the single largest induction street lighting installation project in the world.

“USLT and PSE&G collaborated on the design of the ‘Jersey’ fixture to be unique in appearance, dark sky compliant, and Utility grade,” said Benjamin White, PSE&G’s Distribution Business Team Leader for Street Lighting and Unmetered services. “USLT exceeded our expectations in this area. The Green Street Light Initiative was an aggressive program by PSE&G to change out inefficient mercury vapor technology to high efficient induction technology. This change out will extend the maintenance cycle for 25% of PSE&G’s lighting system to well beyond that of traditional HID sources. USLT’s capabilities and flexibility were keys to the success of this program.”

USLT, which is based in Irvine, Calif., is the leading manufacturer of energy efficient, low-maintenance induction lighting systems for the commercial, industrial and municipal markets. The company has installed its induction products in 220 municipalities and cities and is the first and only induction manufacturer in the world to already have over 125,000 street lights installed on real world streets and neighborhoods across the globe.

With the completion of the Green Street Light Initiative, PSE&G can now expect to save 40% on energy costs per fixture, a reduction of 21,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year, and 45,000 mHW annually. USLT completed the manufacture and delivery project on-time and on-budget – further showing why the company is the proven induction lighting partner for highly demanding, large scale installation projects.

“USLT raised the bar industry wide with our PSE&G engagement – setting new standards of excellence in installation volume, product quality and on-time delivery,” said Richard Ham, president of USLT. “Marking the single largest induction lighting installation project ever, the USLT/PSE&G partnership demonstrates that the induction lighting format is ideal for large scale municipal and government projects and that USLT is well-equipped to meet the most rigorous expectations for a high volume installation of this caliber.”
