For the first time, Honda will be bringing ASIMO, the world’s most advanced humanoid robot, to the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Championship. Honda will conduct 15-minute demonstrations of ASIMO’s capabilities including walking forward and backward, running nearly 4 mph, climbing stairs and more.
The general public, along with all FIRST participants and attendees, are encouraged to attend the free ASIMO demonstrations. This is the first time ASIMO will visit the St. Louis area and the first year FIRST will hold its annual robotics Championship in the city as well.
ASIMO, which stands for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility, is a culmination of more than two decades of research and development of Honda engineers. Designed to someday assist people in their homes, ASIMO is being used today to encourage and inspire young students to consider studies in math and science. |
