Pervasiveness of APTs Fuels Continued Demand for Fidelis Security Systems’ Advanced Threat Management Solution

Customer Wins, Industry Accolades, and Analyst Recognition Drive Adoption of Fidelis XPS™

WALTHAM, Mass.--()--Fidelis Security Systems, the market leader in network visibility, analysis and control solutions, today announced that the prevalence of advanced persistent threats (APTs) continues to increase demand for Fidelis’ Advanced Threat Management solution, Fidelis XPS™. Product awards and analyst recognition further support the momentum Fidelis has attained by providing customers with the crucial network intelligence needed to see, study, and stop today’s advanced threats. Fidelis XPS’ Deep Session Inspection® platform, which takes network security beyond what has been possible with traditional tools, giving customers real-time visibility deep inside the content at the session-level, where today’s advanced threats occur.

“Each day we are seeing more examples of advanced persistent threats being targeted beyond the government to the private sector,” said Peter George, CEO of Fidelis Security Systems. “We are proud of the trusted advisor status we have earned with our federal government customers, giving us the credentials to be the ‘one to call’ for the private industry as they wage their battle against today’s advanced adversaries, as our experience, technology, and knowledge make Fidelis uniquely positioned to find and defend against these highly-sophisticated threats in the current environment.”

The analyst community has been vocal about Fidelis, including the company in several recently published reports on network security and advanced threat monitoring. Josh Corman, Research Director, Enterprise Security Practice at independent IT analyst firm The 451 Group, said in a February 8, 2011 report that, “with a deliberate move beyond data loss prevention (DLP) and a recognition that the once middle-market buyer is now more of a 'compliance late adopter,' Fidelis has embraced focused target selection and merciless execution to support these more advanced buyers.” The report also notes that ‘The shift in strategy seems to be working well – the company claimed a 125% year-over-year growth in bookings from 2009 to 2010.’ Furthermore, in a recent report on Network Analysis and Visibility (NAV), Forrester Research’s Senior Analyst John Kindervag, lists Fidelis as vendor in the NAV market, with a toolset that provides situational awareness for networking and information security professionals. Gartner Vice President John Pescatore also published research on Network Security Monitoring (NSM) tools, referencing Fidelis as having a network security monitoring product focused on Specialized Threat Detection.

In February, Info Security Products Guide, the industry's leading information security research and advisory guide, awarded Fidelis’ Deep Session Inspection technology, the core of its flagship Fidelis XPS product, winner of the 2011 Tomorrow’s Technology Today Award in the “Best Network Security Solution” category. The award recognizes Deep Session Inspection technology as an advanced, ground-breaking solution helping to set the bar higher for others in all areas of information security by making a positive impact on security in today’s highly sophisticated and blended attacks environment.

“I had experience using the Fidelis XPS product at a previous company,” said Josh Hinkle, CIO, Lutheran Social Services of South Central PA. “Given Fidelis’ ease of use and comprehensive network visibility, it was an easy decision to choose it again. Fidelis XPS is about more than just DLP, and it is not a question of if you need it, but when you will need it. When managing network security, ignorance is not bliss. We found ongoing foreign traffic to our network as soon as we turned Fidelis XPS on. With Fidelis, you really learn a lot about what’s happening on your network.”

Fidelis has also been actively involved in multiple industry events, including February’s RSA Conference in San Francisco, where the company announced a partnership with CloudShield Technologies to offer a high-performance deep application and content inspection network security solution. In early March, President and Chief Executive Officer Peter George spoke at the 2011 Montgomery Technology Conference in Santa Monica, California. At the conference, which brought together a highly-select invitation-only audience of more than 1,000 senior-level private equity and venture capital investors and corporate industry executives, George took part in the cyber security panel that discussed cyber security threats to the U.S. government, financial and industrial infrastructure, and how the pooling of resources is becoming an imperative initiative when combating advanced persistent threats.
