Robert Hon Joins Echelon as Senior Vice President of Engineering

With 25 years of systems, software and hardware expertise, Hon will lead the development Echelon’s Energy Control Networking solutions

SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ:ELON) today announced the appointment of industry technologist Robert Hon to the position of senior vice president of engineering. Mr. Hon, who most recently served as executive vice president of engineering at ConSentry Networks, and held leadership positions at Packeteer, Apple and Cadence Design Systems, will be responsible for Echelon’s technology and product development.

Mr. Hon brings more than 25 years of technical expertise to Echelon. Prior to ConSentry Networks, he was the vice president of engineering at Network Physics, where he led the team delivering network-visibility and diagnosis products. Prior to Network Physics, Mr. Hon was the vice president of engineering at Packeteer, a pioneer and leader in network-traffic shaping and deep-packet inspection. He has also held senior management positions at Cadence Design Systems and Apple, and he was on the faculty of Columbia University. He received a B.S. in Engineering and Applied Science from Yale University and earned both an M.S. and Ph.D in Computer Science from Carnegie-Mellon University.
