Biomoda Collaborates with UT Health Science Center at San Antonio

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--()--Cancer diagnostics company Biomoda, Inc. (OTCBB: BMOD) (www.biomoda.com) today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio to collaborate on research to optimize the CyPath® diagnostic assay for lung cancer.

“UT Health Science Center in San Antonio is a world-class biomedical research and education institution with a proven track record of turning scientific research into clinical practice,” said Biomoda CEO Maria Zannes. “We will benefit from the Health Science Center’s extensive resources for our ongoing optimization work in preparation for the multi-site pivotal trial. We also intend to tap into the economic grant programs and research funding afforded by this initiative.”

Health Science Center Vice President for Research Dr. Brian Herman said, “We will be working with Biomoda to bring its cancer diagnostic tests to the front end of medical treatment in order to use medical expertise and resources as efficiently and effectively as possible.”

“Our research will progress more quickly and our science will be strengthened by this initiative,” said Biomoda President John Cousins. “Biomoda is focused on optimization of its assay to include automating sample reading through flow cytometry and refining the use of fluorescent microscopy to identify cancer cell types and pre-cancerous cells. The Health Science Center not only will greatly assist us with the science, but we believe the partnership has the potential to create jobs and economic growth for the region.”
