This new solution continuously monitors indicators of alcohol use, tracks an offender’s exact location and delivers this information to public safety officials in real-time.
G4S’s transdermal alcohol monitoring combines integrated GPS location-based monitoring technology and continuous alcohol detection capabilities. Alcohol and GPS alerts occur instantly via Bluetooth® and cellular-based technology, allowing public safety officials to respond quickly to violations.
The addition of continuous alcohol monitoring complements G4S’s existing video capture alcohol monitoring solution, VI-CAP™, which provides accurate detection of alcohol consumption and real-time audio/visual verification of the participant during testing. VI-CAP is the only remote breath alcohol test that is individually supervised by a monitoring center operator. With transdermal alcohol monitoring and VI-CAP, G4S provides public safety officials a choice of alcohol monitoring solutions and the ability to customize a solution to meet any agency’s alcohol monitoring needs. The G4S transdermal alcohol monitoring system distinguishes episodes and severity of alcohol consumption on a continuous and ongoing basis through comparison to a sober baseline established at enrollment. The system verifies compliance with court orders for alcohol abstinence over a given period. The tamperproof bracelet monitors and measures ethanol gas emitted through the skin on a continuous basis using a test chamber where ethanol molecules released from the skin accumulate. Measurements taken from the chamber are stored in the bracelet and simultaneously transmitted to monitoring center computers via a GPS cell phone.
In order to enhance its continuum of products and ensure a seamless integration with its existing product line, G4S has acquired Actsoft’s HAS division, which includes its transdermal alcohol monitoring software application, House Arrest Solution (HAS). Additionally, G4S has entered into a manufacturing agreement to produce custom G4S transdermal monitoring devices.
