The College Board and the National Conference of State Legislatures Convenes Policy Leaders for State Capital Event on College Completion and P20 Approach

ANNAPOLIS, Md.--()--On Monday, Jan. 31ST, the College Board Advocacy & Policy Center, in collaboration with the National Conference of State Legislatures, will convene state policymakers, educators and business leaders to the inaugural event of the College Completion Agenda: State Capitals Campaign in a discussion about how to advance college completion and drive excellence in our schools and universities in the face of budget constraints, rising costs, and expanding enrollment. The event will be hosted in Annapolis, Maryland, by Governor Martin O’Malley and Gaston Caperton, president of the College Board.

Nationally recognized as a leader for excellence in education and college completion, and with a strong integrated P-20 approach, the state of Maryland was selected as the first state in a year-long, multi-state campaign to rally and mobilize the nation, and advance policies and practices that work to increase the proportion of Americans that hold a postsecondary degree by 2025. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a conversation about lessons learned from a state that has successfully addressed, in both creative and innovative ways, some of the biggest challenges facing our education system.

The State Capitals Campaign will recognize successful and innovative policies and programs within each state that align to the 10 recommendations in the College Completion Agenda Progress Report and State Policy Guide, developed in collaboration with the National Conference of State Legislatures.
