TOKYO & AMSTERDAM--()--NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the global data and IP services arm of Fortune Global 500 telecom leader NTT (NYSE:NTT), today announced that it has been named Best Global Wholesale Carrier (Data) and Best North American Wholesale Carrier at the Capacity Global Carrier Awards 2014 in Amsterdam on November 4. Celebrating innovation, vision and excellence, the Capacity Global Carrier Awards are among the most prestigious recognitions for the global and regional wholesale telecom industry in the world.

“Winning these awards shows that NTT Com has retained its positions as the leading global wholesale IP provider,” the Global Carrier Awards Judging Panel said in a statement. “Most recently, it has expanded its global Tier-1 network in North America, entered new markets in Europe and Asia and increased the reach of its submarine cables.”

“In the past 12 months NTT Com has taken huge steps to continue developing its Tier-1 Global IP Network and transit wholesale offerings around the world,” said Akira Arima, President and CEO of NTT Com. “We are deeply honored that the Capacity Global Carrier Awards Panel has recognized these efforts and will continue to deploy our expertise and worldwide network to help our customers achieve their business goals globally,” Mr. Arima added.

NTT Com’s Tier-1 Global IP Network is consistently ranked among the top networks worldwide. In 2014 NTT Com established new connection points to its global IP backbone in Europe, Asia and North America. The company opened a new PoP in Luxembourg built exclusively on 100GE network links. NTT Com also expanded into several RagingWire and CoreSite facilities in North America and opened a new PoP in Bangkok.

NTT Com broke new ground last year when it became the first carrier to deploy 100G Ethernet technologies on its PC-1 subsea cable system – a 21,000km network linking Japan with the US. The company is also rolling out the technology on its Asia Submarine Express cable.
