ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Frank Kartmann, President of Missouri American Water, has been appointed to Governor Jay Nixon’s Comprehensive State Energy Plan Steering Committee. The goal of the committee is to chart a course toward a sustainable and prosperous energy future that will create jobs and improve Missourians' quality of life.
Kartmann is one of 50 state leaders in business, labor, education and energy that are serving on the steering committee. The group is holding seven public meetings across the state this month as an important component of the plan’s development.
“The flow of water and energy are intrinsically interconnected,” said Kartmann. “The energy requirements to treat and distribute water, and the water needed for power plant cooling purposes, are significant. While Missouri American Water is using technology to steadily reduce our energy usage, we know that better stewardship of our energy and water resources are important to Missouri’s future.”
