GLASGOW, Scotland--()--The Scottish offices of intellectual property attorneys Murgitroyd & Company have been awarded “Gold” status in the annual Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) Patent 1000 global rankings.

The award was in recognition of the collective efforts of the firm's Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen offices. IAM noted, “The residents of its Glasgow office – the firm’s world headquarters – effectively leverage the wider network in order to secure international protection for patrons. They are skilful when dealing with the needs of marquee multinational technology entities.”

IAM further commented, “The individuals at Murgitroyd & Company always impress – they are commercial operators with a ‘can-do’ attitude.” IAM specifically recommends the expertise of Graham Murnane, as “he knows his way around the European Patent Office better than most, having spent years as a substantive patent examiner there. His engineering experience gives him a further edge.”

IAM highlights the group’s Aberdeen office as having “especially impressive credentials in the oil and gas sphere,” while also applauding its “contributions to the development of IP law and policy in Europe.”

Ed Murgitroyd, Deputy Chairman, said, "We are delighted by being ‘Gold’ listed, and this underlines our attorneys' commitment to providing commercially relevant client advice while highlighting our extraordinary breadth and depth of expertise."
