NEW YORK--()--This Thanksgiving, a mythical dragon will be spotted over the skies of New York City as millions of spectators catch a glimpse of the fierce but beloved Toothless in the 87th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade®. The star of DreamWorks Animation’s (Nasdaq: DWA) How to Train Your Dragon franchise, Toothless will join the lineup of incredible giant character helium balloons in the Thanksgiving Day celebration.

“As this clever and playful dragon takes his rightful place in the sky this year, millions of spectators along the streets of Manhattan and in homes across the country will be dazzled by Toothless,” said Amy Kule, executive producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “His incredibly subtle coloring, bright eyes, enormous shape and scale promises to put Toothless in a class of his own among the Parade’s helium giants this Thanksgiving.”

“DreamWorks Animation is honored to be a part of the incredible Macy’s Parade tradition, and who better than Toothless to soar through the skies of Manhattan on Thanksgiving?” said DreamWorks Animation’s Chief Global Brand Officer Michael Francis. “Fans around the world have dreamt of seeing Toothless take flight before their very eyes and he will definitely be a sight to behold.”

A feat of design by the magicians at Macy’s Parade Studio, Toothless will measure approximately 70-feet in length and will tower more than five stories. The color of midnight with glowing green eyes and an enigmatic grin, Toothless will come to life in grand form. Positioned with his giant wings folded in a landing pose, Toothless will be a hit with fans young and old as he seems poised and ready to descend amongst the gathered crowds.

The critically acclaimed 2010 global blockbuster How to Train Your Dragon grossed nearly $500 million at the worldwide box office and was among the top 10 highest-grossing films of 2010. On June 13, 2014, audiences will have the opportunity to fly high with the original gang in the epic 3D action-adventure film sequel, which will soar into the final film of the trilogy set to release in 2016. Fans can also follow the adventures of Hiccup and Toothless in the popular television series DreamWorks Dragons: Defenders of Berk.

The 87th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade airs nationwide on NBC-TV, on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013 from 9 a.m. – noon in all time zones.
