TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--At CEATEC JAPAN 2013 currently underway at the Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex in Chiba city, prominent IT journalists from the U.S. selected and awarded outstanding technologies and concepts in the "U.S. Media Panel Innovation Awards" during an award ceremony held on October 3, 2013.
Products were chosen from exhibits at the CEATEC JAPAN 2013 or from products, technologies, or services which exhibitors had applied for consideration. Their selection for the awards were based on the following criteria: 'Does the introduction of this product offer tangible merits to consumers? And in particular, is the product worthy of introduction to U.S. consumers?'
The selection committee interviewed participants at each booth on the 1st and 2nd of October during the convention. After review and consideration by the selection committee the 'Grand Prix' winners were chosen from the winning products, technologies, and services in each category. In addition, a special 'Smart Mobility Award' winner was also selected. The 'Grand Prix' winner this year was Nissan Motor Company's Autonomous Drive Vehicle.
