NCOA Recognizes WellPoint for Helping Older Adults Find Benefits

WASHINGTON--()--For its commitment to helping older adults improve their health and economic security, the National Council on Aging (NCOA) has presented WellPoint (NYSE: WLP) with an Award of Recognition.

WellPoint has partnered with NCOA’s BenefitsCheckUp® for six years, helping thousands of struggling older adults find and enroll in benefits that can help them pay for health care, food, medicine, utilities and more. The award recognizes WellPoint’s long-standing support of the program.

BenefitsCheckUp® is the nation’s most comprehensive Web-based service to screen seniors for benefits programs. Since 2001, it has helped more than 3.6 million seniors find over $13.3 billion worth of benefits.

WellPoint serves nearly 36 million members in its affiliated health plans and nearly 68 million individuals through its subsidiaries.

“WellPoint supports NCOA’s mission to improve the lives of millions of older adults by connecting them to resources that help them stay healthy and secure,” said James Firman, NCOA President & CEO. “The upcoming Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is a good time for older adults with Medicare to make sure they are getting all the help they are eligible for to pay for their health care costs.”
