Cigna (NYSE:CI) presented Helmets to Hardhats with a $10K donation during a special 10th anniversary event at the National Building & Construction Trades Department's Legislative Conference on April 21, 2013 in Washington, DC. Kim Bimestefer, president for the Taft-Hartley & Federal Business Segment, made the presentation to Darrell Roberts Executive Director of Helmets to Hardhats and Sean McGarvey President of the Building and Construction Trades Department, AFL-CIO.

“By supporting Helmets to Hardhats we can help military service members reach their full potential of health, well-being and sense of security. This program allows veterans to maintain a career, benefits and an appropriate standard of living,” said Kim Bimestefer, president for Cigna's Taft-Hartley & Federal Business Segment.

“Thank you to Cigna for its donation and its support of Helmets to Hardhats and helping military members who have given so much in defense of our nation. This work can only be done with the help and support of those who believe that completion of military service deserves more than just a handshake,” said Helmets to Hardhats Executive Director Darrell Roberts.

“Cigna has a rich history of working with veteran’s groups,” said Bimestefer. Cigna Project Hero is a new IT recruitment program being piloted within Cigna IT that will recruit veterans. Cigna managers will work with human resources to identify open vacancies across the IT organization as potential opportunities for veteran hires.

Cigna’s veteran Colleague Resource Group (CRG) is comprised of veterans, friends and family of veterans, and employees at Cigna and assists veteran-employees to thrive at Cigna. “The unique and important knowledge from our veteran-employees helps us meet the needs of Cigna’s veteran customers,” said Bimestefer.
