Emerald Smoke Puts Stranglehold on Chicago Mixed Martial Arts Market

Everlast Equipped MMA Training Center Chicago’s First

CHICAGO--()--Emerald Smoke, Chicago’s first gym exclusively dedicated to the sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), today announced its grand opening to take place on January 3, 2011. The Everlast equipped MMA training center features a full-size cage and professional fighters from around the world as trainers.

“I had to join four gyms to get in one complete MMA workout, which surprised me considering I live in a city as large as Chicago,” said Collin Williams, Emerald Smoke founder and president. “Chicago is known for its professional sports teams, but not well known for its fight talent. I’m looking to help change that with Emerald Smoke.”

Offering comprehensive training programs, including jiu-jitsu, muay thai, kickboxing, western-style boxing and striking, Emerald Smoke will consolidate all aspects of MMA in its 4,500 square foot facility.

When Williams contemplated leaving his job as an attorney to pursue his dream of opening MMA centers, he knew he needed an industry leader to help. “I noticed Everlast getting more involved in MMA and decided to reach out to President Adam Geisler to learn more about their interest in the sport,” said Williams. “As the biggest name in boxing, I figured why not? Emerald Smoke is now an MMA training center officially equipped with Everlast gear.”

“You cannot deny the growing popularity of MMA, particularly the dominance of the UFC and fast growing promotions like Bellator and Strikeforce. It is an industry that has quickly become a multi-billion dollar business,” said Williams. “I’m looking to give a great city a great place to grow its talent and a great place for regular people like me to workout and learn more about the sport,” added Williams.

Helping Emerald Smoke stake its claim as Chicago’s premier MMA gym will be its trainers. The trainers at Emerald Smoke will include fighters who have competed against the toughest MMA competition in the world. But Williams wants to remind people that it isn’t all about fighting. “Our programs are designed to get you into peak physical shape, it’s not all about getting in the cage and hitting people,” said Williams. “We have programs and equipment that will appeal to men and women of all ages, including team and youth camps, yoga classes, cardio equipment and more.”
