BMC Software Harnesses Power of Business Analytics; Improves Service Delivery to Major Industry Players

  • BMC announces new capabilities for Informatica and SAP BusinessObjects with BMC Control-M workload automation
  • New capabilities free up resources and safeguard against risks that could impede business service delivery

HOUSTON--()--Further expanding the Business Service Management (BSM) platform of simplifying IT, reducing customer costs and enabling IT to respond adeptly to the needs and priorities of the business, BMC Software (NASDAQ:BMC) today announced that its popular BMC Control-M workload automation solution has new capabilities for Informatica and SAP BusinessObjects, ensuring that users can leverage business intelligence solutions to access the information they need, when they need it.

With these new capabilities for Informatica and SAP BusinessObjects, BMC Control-M simplifies the delivery of end-to-end solutions for automating business information across multiple platforms and applications, all from a single point of control.

BMC Control-M support for Informatica can automate the transfer and integration of data across applications to assure the delivery of business services on time. Without the ability to orchestrate automated data transfers as part of an integrated business process, business services are often times interrupted or delivered based on incomplete or incorrect information.

Known as an industry-leading solution for delivery of data and analytics used to make business decisions, SAP BusinessObjects reports are scheduled and a part of critical business process flows. With today’s announcement, business users relying on SAP BusinessObjects for critical business decisions are now assured on-time delivery of their reports and analytic information through the BMC Control-M solution, allowing them to make better informed business decisions all while reducing risks and improving efficiencies.

Whether a financial company trying to execute trades or a retail chain trying to deliver online holiday gift orders or a school district facilitating the education process, businesses and institutions around the world rely on timely reporting and scheduling to meet their service level agreements (SLAs) and satisfy customers.

Seattle Public Schools relies on scheduled job processing for vital tasks such as enrolling students, assigning classes, tracking attendance, recording grades, scheduling transportation and extending access to library, computing and other resources.

“The BMC Control-M solution has enabled the district to save $100,000 in labor costs, and nearly $20,000 a year in productivity gains by reducing human errors,” said Jim Ratchford, the district’s chief information officer. “BMC Control-M eliminated the human error inherent in manual processes. Jobs now consistently run on schedule and more quickly because Control-M tracks dependencies among jobs and adjusts scheduling accordingly.”

Control-M Supports BSM and The Cloud

Playing a key role in BMC’s BSM strategy, the BMC Control-M workload automation solution allows customers to automate the execution of business processes across the enterprise, which is critical to achieving efficient and predictable delivery of services. The solution minimizes errors and gives IT a higher level of control and flexibility over their batch jobs which are increasingly integrated with online processing and other real time business services.

Additionally, the BMC Control-M solution manages and runs workloads in virtual and cloud environments with Dynamic Workload Management and workload policies -- new capabilities introduced earlier this year with BMC Control-M 7 that leverage virtual resources and private and public clouds as needed to complete workload processing and ensure SLAs are met. Over 2,000 organizations have converted more than 5 million automation tasks to BMC Control-M, the vast majority of them replacing other schedulers.

“BMC Control-M is a dynamic solution that is unparalleled in its ability to provide an enterprise-wide view of critical business processes across physical, virtual and cloud environments,” said Bill Miller, president, Mainframe Service Management, BMC Software. “As part of the overall BSM platform, BMC Control-M is the most efficient and comprehensive path to IT value in the industry today.”
