CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--All three Pivot Point Academy locations in the Chicago area have announced they will participate in Cancer Survivor Beauty and Support Day (CSBSD) on December 7, 2010. Cancer survivors are invited to the Pivot Point Academy salons for a selection of complimentary salon and spa services.
Founded in 2003 by Barbara Paget of Highland Park, Illinois, CSBSD is a nationwide event that takes place annually on the first Tuesday in December to honor and pamper cancer survivors with beauty services. CSBSD is recognized by the Illinois Legislature and by an honorary proclamation in the U.S. Congressional Record.
“We are proud to participate in Cancer Survivor Beauty and Support Day,” said Karen Wilkin-Donachie, CEO of Pivot Point International. “Our company commitment to community involvement allows us to foster this quality with Pivot Point Academy students. Not only do they have the chance to sharpen their skills by performing services, they develop their compassion.”
There are 150 participating salons in Illinois. In the last 7 years, nationwide participation in CSBSD has grown to more than 560 cosmetology schools and salons participating in 44 states. Ms. Padget recently received a $15,000 Pepsi Refresh Project grant to continue expanding the reach of CSBSD.
