EMERYVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ConnectSolutions LLC, a leading provider of web collaboration products, today announced the strategic acquisition of Xuggle, a provider of a proprietary and open-source technology used worldwide to enable advanced, real-time audio and video transcoding and manipulation. With the acquisition, ConnectSolutions’ offerings now take full advantage of the latest advancements in web video technology to enable video collaboration that is affordable and does not require expensive investments in new hardware or network upgrades.
ConnectSolutions today also announced the ConnectSolutions Real-Time Collaboration Platform, a one-stop solution for all types of web collaboration, including one-to-one, group and broadcast communication. Xuggle’s Media Server, combined with the Real-Time Collaboration Platform, will empower enterprise and government organizations to collaborate anywhere, anytime with a rich but easy-to-use experience.

Xuggle brings patent-pending video technology and open source technology including the Xuggler Java SDK, which is used by organizations such as BBC and Rosetta Stone. The Xuggle community includes over 350 registered developers with more than 15,000 SDK downloads. As part of the agreement, ConnectSolutions will continue its investment in the Xuggle community and integrate the core technology into its products. The Xuggler SDK will continue to be free as the open-source solution for Java developers to manipulate video and audio streams in real time. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
