Genasys and GyPSii Sign Strategic Agreement to Offer Location-Based Social Media Solution to Telefonica’s Latin American Mobile Subscribers

AMSTERDAM & SALO, Finland--()--GyPSii, the market-leading mobile lifestyle application, geo-mobility, and social media platform, has been selected by Genasys, a leading provider of mobile location services, as its exclusive, mobile social network partner. In partnership with Telefonica, they will launch a consumer-focused application to subscribers across Latin America. The application, built on GyPSii’s OpenExperience™ API, is expected to launch in Mexico branded as Movistar “Powered by GyPSii” in March 2010, and will be available on Blackberry, Android, Java, Symbian S60, Windows Mobile and WAP-enabled devices.

An agreement recently signed with Telefonica Internacional S.A. designates Genasys as the exclusive provider of Location Based value added services for the 13 countries in Latin America where Telefonica operates, and is a very important step in Genasys’ strategy to grow in the Value Added Service (VAS) market worldwide. As part of this agreement, Genasys is committed to launching a wide range of very attractive and successful Value Added Services for all the clients of Telefonica in Latin America. A key element of Genasys’ strategy is to grow in the VAS market by establishing alliances with best in class providers of applications and services.

With potential reach to over 130M subscribers in Latin America, the arrangement with Genasys offers GyPSii the opportunity to further expand their business model in another important emerging market.
