CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AppDNA, the worldwide leader in application compatibility testing for Microsoft environments, today announced the newest version of its application compatibility testing product, AppTitude 2.6. AppTitude is the industry’s first application compatibility testing software that can provide a rapid assessment of 100 percent of an organization’s applications running on Microsoft platforms including Windows Vista and XP, and Microsoft App-V (formerly SoftGrid). AppTitude helps enterprises improve their strategic IT investments and long-term planning by delivering comprehensive application insight in advance of making changes to application environments. It addresses three main areas that are critical for strategic software deployment: application compatibility and integration; OS migration and upgrades; and assessment of virtualization options.
AppTitude 2.6 features new functionality including a Quick Start Report that delivers a high-level overview of application compatibility issues using a Red-Yellow-Green traffic light-type summary status; a new Overview Report that enables organizations to view an application’s status across all Microsoft platforms; a completely re-architected business layer to support customers with the largest application portfolios; and a “Restore” feature that makes the product more resilient by enabling users to return to a previous state following any interruption. In addition there are routine maintenance updates.
Manual testing of enterprise portfolios with hundreds of applications is often so difficult and expensive that it would take months or years to complete. As a result, many organizations never even attempt to test all of their applications before rolling out a new OS or upgrade.
AppTitude provides comprehensive and quick insight into an entire application portfolio of hundreds or even thousands of applications, including custom and internally developed applications. After automatically extracting and storing key installation and runtime data from an entire application portfolio, it creates a comprehensive profile of the “application DNA” of an enterprise. AppTitude then interrogates the DNA data to assess application compatibility for planned changes in a fraction of the time required using costly and laborious manual testing.
“No other testing tool on the market today can automatically collect an organization’s application metadata for its entire application portfolio – including both installation and runtime data – and rapidly assess the compatibility status and make recommendations for remediation of issues,” said Mike Welling, CEO of AppDNA. “By quickly reporting the impact details IT needs to know before making a change to the application environment, AppTitude dramatically reduces the time, cost and risks of OS migration (such as Vista), software upgrades or any changes under consideration.”
AppTitude displays the results of its application DNA interrogation via a visual status dashboard. A green, yellow or red light indicates whether an application will migrate without problems, whether it will have some problems, or whether it will not migrate effectively. In addition, AppTitude provides a combination of automatic fixes (when available) and remediation advice to help the IT team correct the issues and accurately scope and plan remediation steps.
