DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--XLG, a product design studio based in Dallas, announces a new design collaboration with Fort Worth, Texas-based Novikoff to develop a high-end casegoods line, Twenty One. Novikoff is working with XLG to create a series of modern, versatile workspace furniture pieces, including desks, open office units and a reception desk.
The first desking unit in the Twenty One collection, unveiled at NeoCon World’s Trade Fair in June, is a flexible, modular workstation system that configures to provide additional desktop space. The sleek, modern design offers new functionality that conforms to personal work style.
“We designed the first desking unit of the Twenty One collection to have flexibility and adaptability. We created a system that conforms to the way professionals approach their work. It’s a system designed to really adapt to individuals and their environment,” said Charlie Kane, founding principal and design director, XLG.
Twenty One provides a modern, sophisticated take on Novikoff’s signature craftsmanship. It features continuous, horizontal wood grain on all sides. The piece comes in a unique variety of finish options, including teak, rift-cut white oak and wenge, as well as a variety of lacquer and coordinating metal finishes; allowing for monolithic or contrasting coordination. The desking unit can be configured in a variety of ways, while maintaining an elegant and progressive shape.
XLG and Novikoff’s concept incorporates findings from current office organization studies. According to research, “pilers,” whose organizational style involves creating piles of related work, are more prevalent than “filers,” workers who use filing systems. Yet, the majority of the current desking units focus on filing systems.
“The Twenty One collection provides a solution for creative and knowledge-economy professionals. XLG worked with us to create a very unique and distinctive series of products for the new and evolving work environment,” said Paul Berry, national sales manager, Novikoff.
New Twenty One collection pieces will be added to the desking unit throughout 2007. Novikoff will be manufacturing the pieces in its 100,000-square-foot-facility based in Ft. Worth, Texas.
