The Worlddidac Award is the most recognized international prize in the education sector, given to innovative and pedagogically valuable products with a great potential to improve learning or teaching. To qualify for the Worlddidac, products go through a rigorous evaluation process by an international jury of education experts.
The criteria of evaluation includes overall quality, safety, eco-friendliness, pedagogic value, ease of use, aesthetics, handbook quality, degree of realism in software, multi-functionality, adaptability, design innovation, pedagogical innovation, technological innovation, degree of interactivity and performance/cost ratio. Some of the criteria are applied selectively, depending on the type of the product.
Celebrating the award as recognition of the company's dedication to providing the education market with high quality, interactive resources, Promethean's Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Jury said: "The Worlddidac award is a prestigious quality mark within education and we're delighted to have won it. It is further evidence of the feedback we have received from teachers that ACTIVprimary is an exceptional teaching tool."
Providing multi-functionality and adaptability, ACTIVprimary allows children to access information and learning across the curriculum in an exciting and stimulating way. Designed for the early learning environment, the ACTIVprimary software uses bold icons, bright tools bars and easily recognisable symbols to ensure that it is child-friendly and simple to use. The interface on the Promethean ACTIVboard consists of a teacher area and a pupil area positioned along the bottom of the board to ensure that children can easily reach and control the interactive tools.
The company will receive the award at the official presentation in October when they will attend the Worlddidac exhibition 2004 in Basel.
