"Don Lowe is a natural choice for this award. He is an executive of high moral character who has played a major role in the success of his company through his leadership. He is a true ambassador for success in the fields of sales and marketing," said Willis Turner, president and CEO of SMEI.
Under Lowe's leadership, Franchise Services has gained worldwide market share with 1,000 franchise locations in 26 countries, under the brand names of Sir Speedy, PIP Printing and MultiCopy. Lowe has positioned the company's brands through an aggressive marketing and advertising initiative that has included national television advertising and an outside sales presence.
Lowe's accomplishments have made him a recognized leader throughout the printing industry and he was named Quick Printing Magazine's Man of the Year in 1989. The company has been consistently named to Franchise Times' Top 200 list and has been a recipient of Entrepreneur magazine's Franchise 500 award. Lowe also plays an active role in industry associations, with a specific interest in providing opportunities for education. Lowe was one of the first to pledge money to the International Franchise Association for education, and allocates grants for education in graphic arts as a member of the Electronic Document Systems Foundation Board of Directors since 2001. He is also a founding member of the Quick Printing Council.
"Throughout my career I have been fortunate to be surrounded by outstanding people who epitomize the entrepreneurial spirit. I dedicate this to those who have shared their dreams and aspirations with me and allowed me to be a small part of their lives," said Don Lowe after receiving his Pinnacle Award.
Lowe joins previous honorees, Henry Bloch, founder and co-chairman of H&R Block; Herbert Kelleher, co-founder and CEO of Southwest Airlines; Edward Brennan, chairman emeritus, Sears Roebuck & Co.; and Frederick Smith, CEO, FedEx Corp.
