Coravin, Inc. Opens European Headquarters in Amsterdam
Revolutionizing the Way Wine is Shared and Enjoyed Across Europe
BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Coravin, Inc., maker of the Coravin™ Wine Access System which enables users to pour wine without pulling the cork, has announced international expansion of operations to Europe with headquarters in Amsterdam. In October and November, Coravin will launch Coravin-EU ecommerce websites in the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Spain.
“I am thrilled to join the Coravin team and look forward to building Coravin into a global that continues to change the way wine is enjoyed, served, and sold.”
Leading the brand’s European expansion is Maarten Dekker, Vice President & General Manager of Coravin Europe B.V., who will manage a team responsible for new business development, e-commerce, field sales, marketing communications, operations and accounting. Maarten is joining Coravin from Nespresso USA Inc., where he held the position of Vice President B2B North America and was responsible for the creation, development and implementation of the Nespresso Business to Business strategy for North America.
Coravin’s European expansion comes on the heels of a banner debut year for the company in the U.S., with sales of more than 40,000 units to restaurants, consumers, wineries and wine shops, as well as the addition of more than 500 business partners nationwide. Following suit, nearly 100 European restaurants are already using the Coravin System to expand their wine programs by offering their finest wines by the glass. Launching first in the UK, Coravin will look to roll out business in France, Germany, Italy and Spain throughout Q4, focusing on local language transactional websites and select strategic partnerships.
“It’s astonishing how quickly Coravin has transformed the wine industry in the U.S., and given the adoption of the technology in so many restaurants across Europe already, I anticipate the launch in Europe will be just as successful,” explained Maarten Dekker. “I am thrilled to join the Coravin team and look forward to building Coravin into a global that continues to change the way wine is enjoyed, served, and sold.”
As further proof of Coravin’s established popularity in Europe, David Clawson, Director of London’s Remedy Wine Bar, remarks, “We believe in making wine fun and accessible to everyone, and with the Coravin System, this has really become reality! With Coravin there is no limit on what we can serve by-the-glass. No longer are we concerned with ’wasting’ any wine, since we know the wine in the bottle is still resting happily as if it had never been opened, or accessed.”
Iconic lifestyle brand Harrods, whose wine rooms are a global destination for wine enthusiasts, is Coravin’s first retail launch partner in the UK. The device is available for £269, with two-capsule packs at £15.95. For more information, please visit coravin.com.
Coravin, Inc., is a privately held company located in Burlington, Massachusetts focused on transforming the way wine is served, sold and enjoyed. Coravin designs and markets the Coravin Wine Access System for wine enthusiasts, restaurants, wine stores and wineries. Unparalleled in craftsmanship and design, Coravin uses proprietary patented technology to access and pour wine from a bottle without pulling the cork. Wine enthusiasts can now enjoy wine sealed with corks without feeling the need to commit to the whole bottle, allowing them to explore wines of any vintage, varietal or region, one taste at a time. With Coravin, wine, after being accessed, remains in the bottle, continuing to evolve naturally. It can then be enjoyed later since it was never exposed to oxygen. All launch markets in Europe will be working under Coravin Europe B.V.
