Former Cisco Executive Joins Gutenberg Communications To Drive Silicon Valley Growth
Firm Names Tech Industry Veteran as CMO and EVP of Marketing Services
LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gutenberg Communications, a leading strategic communications firm, today announced that Jeff Platón has joined the company as Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President, Marketing Services Practice. In this role, he will be focused on driving new and organic business growth. Platón will also provide senior marketing counsel to a broad portfolio of Gutenberg clients.
“I am excited to join Gutenberg and contribute to a unique next generation communications firm that is on a remarkable trajectory in terms of growth, talent and opportunity”
Gutenberg Communications has already built considerable business momentum in 2014 by adding more than 12 new clients across the mobile, cloud and cybersecurity technology sectors.
“Jeff Platón is an extraordinary senior marketing and communications executive,” said Hugh Burnham, CEO of Gutenberg Communications. “The lines between marketing and public relations have been blurring for some time. Jeff’s appointment will allow Gutenberg to have the unique ability to influence business outcomes in both metrics and accountability.”
Platón brings over 25 years of experience across a variety of B2B and B2C technology sectors, including software, SaaS, mobile, security, e-commerce, communication and collaboration, networking and the Internet of things (IoT).
While previously at Cisco for 12 years, Platón led the development of the global marketing and go-to-market strategy for Enterprise Solutions and IT Security Solutions. As VP and CMO for the Cisco security business, he developed “The Cisco Self Defending Network” (SDN) marketing campaign, which was instrumental in driving Cisco’s security business from $240m to $2.3B and to the #1 market position in revenue and #1 preferred network security brand. The SDN marketing campaign remains Cisco’s most successful, longest running marketing campaign in the company’s history, winning the gold Effie award. Prior to Cisco, Jeff was a senior executive at McAfee, Exabyte and Burroughs (Unisys).
“I am excited to join Gutenberg and contribute to a unique next generation communications firm that is on a remarkable trajectory in terms of growth, talent and opportunity,” said Platón. “The firm’s history of driving results that are greater than expected is as inspiring as it is aspirational. I’m delighted to be part of such a skilled team.”
