Nestlé USA Introduces New Gummy Candy with National TV Spot Featuring “Mr. Random”

GLENDALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Offering endless gummy combinations and truly random inspiration to “Let Your Random Side Out,” Nestlé USA will introduce a unique new spin on gummy candy this summer when WONKA® Randoms® candy makes its official nationwide debut this month.

A one-of-a-kind addition to the fast-growing gummy candy category, WONKA Randoms contains real fruit juice, no artificial flavors, and colors from natural sources. In every assorted package of Randoms candy, gummy lovers will find three different candy textures: traditional gummy; jam-filled; and a dual-layered gummy with a whipped marshmallow back. The surprises don’t stop there – candy fans also will experience seven delicious fruit flavors, and roughly 70 playful, unpredictable shapes. The combinations are endless, and the collecting and trading never stop!

The new Randoms candy makes its debut with the help of one “Mr. Random,” an apparently arbitrary ambassador of all things random and the star of WONKA’s newest TV commercial. In the spots, Mr. Random (played by actor Josh Breeding) entertains audiences with random antics such as playing tetherball with a grizzly bear, changing clothes on the street, and wrestling with himself at a fight club.

Wildly random viral videos starring Mr. Random continue his adventures from the TV commercials and appear online beginning June 9 on WONKA’s Tumblr page at WONKA.com/Randoms. In addition, fans are encouraged to share how they “let their random side out” by posting on Twitter and Instagram with the handle @WONKAnation, and by using the hashtag #letsgetrandom for an opportunity to win free samples of Randoms candy and other prizes.

According to Nielsen data, the gummy candy category is by far the largest and fastest growing in the confections industry. Randoms is a unique addition—it is the only gummy candy of its kind made with real fruit juice and no artificial flavors and that offers endless combinations. Randoms feature:

  • Ever-evolving SHAPES: Roughly 70 unique and playful shapes with new ones being added all the time (sunglasses, monkey, roller skates, turtle, lighthouse, unicorn and more!)
