Associa Hawaii Donates Funds to Local Charitable Organizations
HONOLULU--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Associa Hawaii, an Associa company, is proud to announce it recently donated $30,000 to Shriners Hospitals for Children and the Hawaii Foodbank to help each organization reach its local philanthropic goals.
“We hope that through these funds, both of these groups can meet their goals and we plan to continue our relationships with them for many years.”
“Giving back to the local community is very important to everyone at Associa Hawaii,” said Associa Hawaii CEO Jon McKenna. “We hope that through these funds, both of these groups can meet their goals and we plan to continue our relationships with them for many years.”
McKenna presented a check for $25,000 to the Shriners Hospitals for Children from money which was raised from its 15th annual charity golf tournament held at the beautiful Hoakalei Country Club. The Shriners Hospitals for Children provide care for thousands of kids with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate, in a family-centered environment at no charge. Associa Hawaii has been a proud supporter of Shriners for more than 10 years. The money donated to the Shriners helps to fly over neighbor island children and their escorts to the hospital. The funds also help pay for ground transportation to the hospital.
On January 29, the Hawaii Foodbank held its 25th annual food drive kickoff breakfast at the Hilton Hawaiian Hotel. McKenna was again on hand to present the Foodbank’s first check of the 2014 Annual Food Drive in the amount of $5,000. The money was also raised from the company’s annual charity golf tournament.
The purpose of the annual food drive is to raise awareness about hunger in Hawaii and to collect urgently needed canned goods and monetary donations to help feed hungry islanders. In Hawaii, one in five children lives in a household that doesn’t know where their next meal is coming from. The Hawaii Foodbank’s mission is to provide food so no one in our island ohana goes hungry. Associa Hawaii supports this mission and has given food and monetary donations over the past several years.
