Marsh Completes Acquisition of AltamarCAM

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Marsh (NYSE: MRSH), a leading global professional services firm, today announced the completion of its previously announced acquisition of AltamarCAM, a specialist private markets asset manager and solutions provider. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

AltamarCAM is a global private markets business serving insurers, family offices, pension funds, foundations, banks and other institutional and wealth clients across Europe and Latin America. The acquisition strengthens Marsh’s private markets capabilities through the addition of AltamarCAM’s comprehensive multi-asset private markets expertise and solutions across secondaries, co-investments, bespoke accounts, and evergreen vehicles.

Through the acquisition of AltamarCAM, Marsh’s private markets assets under management grows to US $75 billion.1

“Marsh’s latest Global Asset Barometer found most large asset owners are selectively increasing capital to private markets. Success increasingly depends on disciplined execution and solutions that support more mature private market programs,” said Garvan McCarthy, Global Alternatives Chief Investment Officer of Marsh Investments and Retirement.

“By combining AltamarCAM’s capabilities with Marsh’s global platform, we can help clients invest in private markets with confidence, with access to a broad range of opportunities across asset classes, delivered by a specialist team backed by the perspective of a global firm,” said Mr. McCarthy.

AltamarCAM will adopt the Marsh brand moving forward, and its leadership will take senior positions in Marsh’s new international private markets platform. José Luis Molina, Co-Founder and Global CEO of AltamarCAM, will serve as the Head of the International Private Markets Platform for Marsh’s investments business, responsible for delivering the breadth of the firm’s private markets capabilities to clients, while AltamarCAM Founder and Executive Chairman Claudio Aguirre will become the Chairman of the International Private Markets Platform.

“AltamarCAM has always been committed to supporting clients as their private markets needs evolve. Joining Marsh gives our colleagues the opportunity to deliver greater impact to clients across a broader range of solutions and markets. We look forward to building on our strong foundation together,” said Mr. Molina.

AltamarCAM’s 280 employees across Madrid, Munich, Barcelona, Cologne, London, New York, and Santiago de Chile join Marsh today. Additionally, Madrid becomes a hub for Marsh’s new international private markets investment platform.
