GridX, Apple Bring Electricity Data and Insights to Southern California Edison Customers in Apple’s Home App

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GridX, the Enterprise Rate and Data Platform provider to utilities and energy providers, today announced its role in supporting the delivery of electricity usage information to residential electric customers of Southern California Edison (SCE). Beginning today, SCE customers with an iPhone, iPad, Mac or an Apple Watch running software version 27 can use the Home app to access, understand and make informed decisions about their electricity usage.

As the technology integration partner, GridX worked with SCE to enable the feature by delivering its electricity data to Apple's Home app. GridX supports data transformation and standardization processes that help make this functionality available to customers and is part of the company’s broader work supporting utilities and energy providers.

The software features available today will allow SCE customers to connect their utility account to Apple’s Home app, see how much electricity they are using and track how it changes both by the hour and day-to-day. Access to this information can help residential utility customers identify peak versus off-peak usage and better understand how their electricity use aligns with their rate plan. The Home app also includes a Grid Forecast feature, which helps users identify the times of the day when the electric grid is powered by cleaner energy sources, such as solar or wind power.
