PIMCO Names Rick LeBrun as General Counsel

Mr. LeBrun succeeds Sung-Hee Suh, who has decided to retire at the end of 2026

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PIMCO, a global leader in active fixed income with expertise across public and private markets, has named Rick LeBrun as General Counsel, effective January 1, 2027. Mr. LeBrun, a Managing Director who currently serves as PIMCO’s Head of Alternatives Business Management, will succeed Sung-Hee Suh, Managing Director, who has decided to retire at the end of this year. Ms. Suh will remain in an advisory capacity to support the transition process.

Mr. LeBrun joined PIMCO in 2005 and is currently the Head of Alternatives Business Management. He has more than two decades of legal experience at PIMCO and in private practice, with deep expertise in all aspects of investment management, including private credit, mergers and acquisitions, opportunistic investing and special situations. Prior to his current role, he served as Deputy General Counsel for PIMCO’s alternative funds and transactions.

“Rick brings deep expertise across PIMCO’s alternatives platform, legal and transaction matters, and business management, giving him a strong understanding of the firm’s clients, risk framework, and governance priorities,” said Emmanuel Roman, PIMCO’s Chief Executive Officer. “His experience as both Head of Alternatives Business Management and Deputy General Counsel for PIMCO’s alternative funds and transactions makes him exceptionally well-positioned to serve as General Counsel.”

Ms. Suh’s retirement caps an extraordinary 36-year legal career in public service and the private sector. She joined PIMCO in 2018 as Global Head of Regulatory Risk and Compliance, later serving as General Counsel for Global Regulatory and Litigation before becoming General Counsel. Prior to PIMCO, she served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and led White & Case's New York white collar and investigations practice. She also served as a litigation partner at Schulte Roth & Zabel and as Deputy Chief of the Organized Crime and Racketeering Section in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York.

“Sung-Hee has made invaluable contributions to PIMCO and our clients over her eight years,” said Mr. Roman. “Through her judgment, integrity and steady leadership, Sung-Hee has upheld the highest legal, regulatory, and ethical standards and helped ensure we continue to earn the trust of clients, regulators, and stakeholders around the world.”
