RFG Advisory Supports Strategic Merger Creating WFA Volare, a More Than $750 Million Wealth Management Firm
Transaction highlights RFG’s expanding capital solutions strategy and commitment to helping Advisors build stronger, more valuable businesses.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--RFG Advisory (“RFG”), an innovator in the wealth management industry dedicated to helping independent financial Advisors build their businesses without compromise™, today announced its support of the strategic merger of WFA and Volare Wealth Advisors to form WFA Volare, a unified wealth management firm managing more than $750 million in client assets.
The transaction brings together two relationship-driven advisory businesses that have operated within the RFG community for years. The newly formed WFA Volare combines a 16-person team across multiple markets, building on WFA’s nearly 30-year legacy in Louisiana and Volare’s female-founded roots while preserving the Advisor relationships and local leadership that have defined both firms.
“The best businesses don’t happen by accident. They’re built intentionally over time with the right vision, support, and infrastructure,” said Shannon Spotswood, CEO of RFG Advisory. “Our role is to give Advisors the freedom and resources to build a stronger business while protecting what matters most to them and their clients.”
The merger builds on RFG’s expanding capital solutions strategy and broader growth in 2026. Earlier this year, RFG completed its first Advisor majority acquisition of RVA Wealth Management, expanding the pathways available to Advisors navigating succession, monetization, ownership, and continued growth. RFG also surpassed $1.5 billion in recruited client assets during the first half of 2026, marking the strongest recruiting period in firm history.
For WFA Volare, that next chapter is already taking shape through an expanded team, geographic reach, and specialized capabilities. Matthew Johnson recently joined the firm as Wealth Advisor and leads its New Roads office, strengthening the firm’s presence across Southern Louisiana. The combined team serves retirees, high-earning professionals, women navigating financial transitions, and elite athletes and their families. That includes Chase Crump, Louisiana’s only NFLPA Registered Financial Advisor, and Wealth Advisor Brandon Wilson, a former NFL athlete, who brings firsthand perspective to the firm’s work with professional and collegiate athletes and families navigating the evolving NIL landscape.
“This was never about getting bigger. It was about getting better for our clients,” said Dany Martin, Partner & Wealth Advisor at WFA Volare. “Chris and her team share the same values we do, and bringing our firms together allows us to preserve the relationships clients value while creating more opportunities to collaborate and serve them together.”
The combination also builds on one of Volare’s longstanding areas of focus: serving women and families. As a female-founded firm, Volare has made this a core part of its approach, and WFA Volare now brings together women Advisors across multiple markets with expanded perspectives and resources to support women through important financial decisions and life transitions. That work is further supported by StrongHer Money®, an RFG program designed to empower Advisors to serve women.
“Being a female-founded firm has always been an important part of who we are and how we’ve built Volare,” said Chris Wedell, Partner & Wealth Advisor at WFA Volare. “This partnership gives us an opportunity to build on that foundation by expanding our ability to serve women and families through every stage of their financial lives.”
WFA Volare represents the latest example of RFG’s expanding approach to helping growth-minded Advisors pursue the path that fits their vision, from independent growth and recruiting to strategic partnerships, capital solutions, succession and ownership opportunities.
