Today’s library card extends well beyond books. From movies, music and digital resources to technology, community programs, learning opportunities and outdoor exploration, an Anythink library card gives Colorado residents access to resources that can entertain, educate, inspire new interests and help families save money.
National Library Card Sign-Up Month comes on the heels of the August opening of the Anythink Nature Library, the nation’s first public nature library and an example of how Anythink continues to expand the role of the public library. The new 33,000-square-foot library in Thornton combines traditional library services with immersive indoor and outdoor experiences designed to connect people with nature and make environmental exploration more accessible.
Among the resources available to cardholders at the Nature Library is one of Anythink’s largest collections of TryIts, experiential kits and equipment that cardholders can check out and use beyond the library. The Nature Library opened with approximately 550 items across 65 unique collections, including bird-watching kits, wildlife cameras, hiking gear, microscopes, weather exploration tools, gardening equipment, nature art kits and conservation resources.
TryIts are available at all Anythink locations, with collections featuring toys, games, musical instruments, craft kits, theraguns, telescopes and much more.
“A library card remains one of the most powerful tools available to our community,” said Mark Fink, Executive Director of Anythink Libraries. “Whether you’re interested in books, sports, music, technology, learning or outdoor adventure, your library can connect you with resources and experiences to explore those interests at no cost. National Library Card Sign-Up Month is an opportunity to remind people that there is always something new to discover at their local library.”
The first 250 people who register for a new Anythink library card during September will receive two Colorado Rapids ticket vouchers, valid for select September and October matches against Montreal, Seattle, San Jose and Minnesota. Vouchers will be available while supplies last and distributed at participating Anythink locations.
New cardholders who register during September will also have the opportunity to enter a drawing for one of 10 gift cards valued at $100 each from local and regional businesses, such as AMC Theatres, REI, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Mile High Comics and Wax Trax Records.
National Library Card Sign-Up Month is an annual initiative encouraging people across the country to discover the resources available through their local libraries. Any Colorado resident can register for a free Anythink library card by visiting any of Anythink Libraries’ eight locations.
