Onyx Odds Names Nicholas Green General Counsel

Experienced Gaming Industry Attorney Joins Onyx from Underdog Sports

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Onyx Odds announced today that it has appointed Nicholas Green as the company’s first General Counsel, reporting directly to Founder and CEO Leul Dadi. Green brings more than 20 years of legal experience with a focus on the technology sector, and most recently served as General Counsel at Underdog Sports.

In his new role, Green will oversee all legal and compliance matters for Onyx. Following a $20 million Series A funding round in June led by Kraken parent Payward, the company announced plans to launch a prediction market product, which is currently being rolled out in beta.

At Underdog, Green led all legal functions, supporting the company’s growth through several funding rounds, expansion to more than 500 employees, and major company transitions from fantasy sports into real-money sports wagering and prediction markets. In March, he oversaw Underdog’s acquisition of Aristotle Exchange’s CFTC-Registered Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) platforms.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Nick to the growing Onyx team,” said Dadi. “His deep industry experience and legal expertise will be invaluable as we continue to scale operations and launch our regulated prediction market platform. As we expand our product offering, we are equally focused on setting a high standard for player safety and responsible operations, and Nick will be central to these efforts.”

"It's an exciting time for Onyx as we prepare to launch new products that will accelerate the company's recent growth," said Green. "Leul and the Onyx team have built an impressive company with a first-in-class customer experience, and I look forward to working with this talented group to capitalize on that momentum. Onyx is positioned to be a top player in this industry."

Prior to Underdog, Green was a partner at Orrick, Herrington, & Sutcliffe LLP, focusing on representing technology clients in matters involving state legislatures, regulatory disputes, governmental litigation, and appeals. His clients in private practice included Major League Baseball, the NBA, PGA Tour, Fanatics, FanDuel, DraftKings, VRBO, Zynga, DISH Network, and DIRECTV.
