Sanborn Chief Scientist Dr. Srini Dharmapuri Named ASPRS Fellow, Honored with Society’s Highest Distinction

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sanborn, a leading provider of geospatial data and solutions, announced today that its Chief Scientist, Dr. Srini Dharmapuri, CP, CMS, PMP, has been named a Fellow of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), the Society’s highest-level honor. The ASPRS Fellow distinction recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, sustained technical contributions, and long-term service to the geospatial sciences.

Dr. Dharmapuri will be formally inducted as an ASPRS Fellow during an awards ceremony on February 17, 2026, from 12:45 PM to 2:00 PM MST at the Bluebird Ballroom 3G – Academic Hub, held in conjunction with Geo Week.

The ASPRS Fellowship is reserved for professionals who demonstrate a significant and lasting impact on the advancement of photogrammetry, remote sensing, and Geographic Information Systems. Fellows are selected through a rigorous peer-review process by the most accomplished members of the ASPRS professional community.

At Sanborn, Dr. Dharmapuri has led and contributed to the advancement of geospatial standards and professional practice, with particular emphasis on the development and application of accuracy standards. His work has delivered practical frameworks that support consistency, reliability, and interoperability.

In recent years, Dr. Dharmapuri has also played a key role in advancing emerging best practices related to digital twins through his work at Sanborn. His efforts have helped bridge traditional geospatial methodologies with next-generation technologies, supporting the integration of high-resolution imagery, 3D data, and analytics. With a focus on data governance, accuracy, and operational value, he continues to advocate for rigorous, standards-based practice.
