Wolters Kluwer to Host Leading International Law Scholar, Gary Born, for Webinar Exploring the Role of International Law in American Courts

International law luminary Gary Born examines how U.S. courts should interpret and apply international legal obligations

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Wolters Kluwer’s Legal & Regulatory U.S. business is pleased to announce a new webinar featuring Gary Born, one of the world’s foremost authorities on international law and international dispute resolution. The session will begin at 5:00pm CET on February 19, 2026, and offers a rare opportunity to hear from one of the most influential voices in international law and dispute resolution as he provides an in‑depth examination of the status and role of international law in American courts. The session is particularly timely given rapidly evolving global affairs and debate regarding the rule of law.

“Wolters Kluwer is committed to bringing forward the voices that are shaping the future of law, and we are honored to host Gary Born for this important conversation,” said David Bartolone, Vice President and General Manager for the International Group within Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory U.S. “As global complexity and uncertainty accelerate, legal practitioners and scholars will benefit from his unrivalled expertise and decades of leadership in international law more than ever.”

Chair of the International Arbitration Practice Group at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, Born has participated as counsel in more than 750 international arbitrations, including several of the largest arbitrations in ICC and ad hoc history. He is the only lawyer in the world to have received recognition by Global Arbitration Review as “Advocate of the Year” and has global "starred" status in Chambers rankings for international arbitration. His most recent book “International Law in American Courts” argues that the current judicial treatment of international law is fundamentally misaligned with the Constitution’s text, history, and objectives.

Born will be joined on the webinar by Roger Alford, Professor of Law at Notre Dame Law School and a leading U.S. scholar of international and constitutional law. Together, they will explore the status and role of both public and private international law in U.S. courts. The webinar will explore the proper status of international law under the U.S. Constitution from an historical and textual perspective.

“International Law in American Courts” will be available on Kluwer Arbitration and VitalLaw in April.
