OMRON Awarded Newsweek’s World’s Greenest Companies 2025

Secures 5-star rating for its sustainability targets and on-going decarbonization initiatives around the world

KYOTO, Japan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OMRON Corporation is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as one of the World’s Greenest Companies 2025 by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group for its sustainability disclosures. As a global technology company with reach in over 130 countries, OMRON’s sustainability initiatives are creating value across the entire value chain – from renewable energy generation to mobilization; energy consumption to energy productivity; production to packaging; logistics to supply chain; and product recycling to waste reduction.

OMRON bagged the highest 5-star rating for its sustainability commitments and actions that meet the most advanced sustainability standards established by the European Union.

The comprehensive research conducted by GIST Impact and Plant-A Insights Group evaluated over 8,000 companies globally on more than 25 parameters in 4 key categories – Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Water Usage, Waste Generation, and Sustainability Data Disclosures and Commitments. Ultimately, the top 750 publicly listed companies across 26 countries were recognized for their environmental sustainability performance.

OMRON’s key sustainability initiatives include:

1) The Green Project by OMRON Device & Module Solutions Business: Catering to key sectors such as automotive, power transmission and home appliances, OMRON’s Device & Module Solutions business offers a wide range of relays, switches, connectors, and sensors that enhance product efficiency and reduce energy consumption. As part of its Green Project initiative, OMRON contributes to customer’s carbon neutrality across their supply chain emissions by focusing on the three pillars of sustainability – Products, Process, and Purchase. Through product innovations, OMRON helps reduce environmental impact at the component level. By optimizing processes, waste is minimized across manufacturing operations. And responsible purchasing practices promote sustainable procurement and collaboration throughout the supply chain.

2) Collaboration Between OMRON’s Industrial Automation and Healthcare Businesses: OMRON’s Matsusaka factory in Japan, which produces digital blood pressure monitors and thermometers, adopts the concept of “reduce” (reducing energy consumption), “create” (creating clean energy), and “absorb” (absorbing remaining carbon emissions) to achieve carbon neutrality goals. This is made possible by OMRON’s own “i-BELT data management platform” developed by the industrial automation business. Through this technology every task from soldering, assembly, inspection to logistics is being closely monitored to enhance energy productivity.

“This recognition is a validation of our efforts to drive a sustainability-led value creation for our customers, partners and society at large,” said Judy Connors, president & COO, OMRON Electronic Components, LLC. “We are choosing sustainability not just to be compliant but because it makes business sense and opens new doors to implement our creativity, generate business and stakeholder value and preserve environment.”

As committed in its long-term vision, “Shaping the Future 2030,” OMRON will continue to address global issues such as climate change for creating an environmentally sustainable society through initiatives to reduce GHG emissions and transitioning to a circular economy.
