Utah First Credit Union Launches $30,000 Utah Music Scholarship

First place wins $20,000

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Utah First Credit Union today announced a $30,000 music scholarship contest to help launch the careers of Utah’s next big music talents. Through the Utah First Credit Union Music Scholarship, two lucky students starting music studies at Southern Utah University in Fall 2026 will get a serious boost toward turning their passion into a profession.

The Utah First Credit Union Music Scholarship is all about showing up for the community — something Utah First has been doing since day one. Darin Moody, CEO of Utah First, said:

“Utah First has been part of this community for 90 years, helping people through all kinds of financial milestones. This scholarship is a natural extension of that effort and empowers the next generation of Utah talent to dream bigger.”

The first-place winner will score $20,000 while the runner-up walks away with $10,000. These funds can help cover tuition and other school expenses at SUU.

Eligibility

  • Be 16+ years at the time of award
  • Enroll as a music major at SUU in Fall 2026 (incoming freshmen or transfer sophomores)

How It Works

  • Submit a live performance video filmed for this contest (max 2 minutes)
  • Be the main performer (accompaniment allowed)
  • Include a short introduction with name and music goals
  • Post on TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts
  • Tag Utah First and include required hashtags
  • Submit the video link on Utah First’s website

Ten finalists will be chosen — five based on social media engagement and five on talent, originality, and potential. A celebrity judging panel, including Utah leadership, SUU faculty, local artists, and influencers, will choose the winners.

Scholarship Timeline

  • Early 2026: Finalists announced
  • Spring 2026: Scholarship winners announced
