HopSkipDrive Announces Louisiana Expansion

Recent SB 160 passage gives schools opportunity to book safe, reliable rides

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HopSkipDrive, the leading technology company solving complex school transportation challenges across the country, announced today its expansion into Louisiana to partner with schools to bring safe, reliable transportation services across the Pelican state.

As schools across Louisiana face ongoing transportation challenges — from chronic absenteeism to bus driver shortages — HopSkipDrive’s technology and network of highly vetted caregivers on wheels provides a proven supplement to traditional yellow school buses.

Today, HopSkipDrive is proud to support more than 10,000 schools nationwide, particularly for students experiencing homelessness, in foster care, or with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), who often need more individualized transportation solutions.

Addressing Critical Transportation Challenges

The timing of HopSkipDrive’s expansion to Louisiana comes at an important moment for the state’s education landscape. Like many states, Louisiana schools are working to address transportation gaps, from Orleans Parish to Baton Rouge. With chronic absenteeism affecting nearly 25% of all students — and even higher rates for youth in foster care and students experiencing homelessness — reliable transportation solutions are more important than ever to help every student access their education.

With the recent passage of SB 160, schools now have new options to supplement their transportation needs with student-focused Transportation Network Companies like HopSkipDrive. HopSkipDrive’s small vehicle network and dynamic driver availability are specifically designed to seamlessly integrate with existing school transportation. Plus, HopSkipDrive recently announced a major expansion of the ability to meet the needs of all students, now offering Wheelchair-Accessible Vehicle rides and Rider Assistants in Louisiana and all operating cities, following a successful pilot program.

“Reliable transportation is a key that unlocks educational opportunities for Louisiana’s most vulnerable students,” said Louisiana Senator Stewart Cathey, Jr. “By addressing transportation needs with innovative solutions, we can foster consistent school attendance and expand access to learning that propels our students towards a brighter future.”

A Solution Built for All Students

The advanced HopSkipDrive Safe Ride Technology™ includes over 50 safety products and features woven throughout the ride experience, giving caregivers and parents confidence that their children are transported safely, reliably, and on time.

“Louisiana’s students deserve every opportunity to thrive, and HopSkipDrive is here to make sure transportation never stands in their way,” said Joanna McFarland, CEO and Co-Founder, HopSkipDrive. “We look forward to partnering with schools across the state to make reliable, safe transportation more accessible, and support families and educators in getting students to school on time and ready to learn.”
