HarbourVest Partners Appoints Karin Risi, Former Vanguard Chief Strategy & Product Officer, as Independent Director to Firm’s Board

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HarbourVest Partners, a global private markets investment specialist with more than $143 billion in assets under management as of December 31, 2024, today announced the appointment of Karin Risi to the firm’s Board. She joins Mitchell Harris, former CEO of BNY Mellon Investment Management who was appointed in 2021, as one of two Independent Directors on the Board.

Karin has more than 30 years of experience in finance, spending the majority of her career at Vanguard, ultimately retiring at year-end 2024. Karin was a long-tenured member of the executive team at Vanguard, reporting to the CEO in multiple roles since 2015. On the executive team, she helped formulate enterprise-level strategy, drove client and revenue growth, oversaw talent development, and influenced capital allocation for the $10 trillion investment firm.

Karin earned her BBA (Finance) and MBA from Villanova University.
