Amway Expands Support of YMCA, Announcing Seven-Figure Investment in Healthier, Stronger Communities

Following decades of local collaboration, a new investment from the U.S. health and wellbeing company will boost the Y’s work across the country.

ADA, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A new seven-figure investment from Amway, a U.S.-based entrepreneur-led health and wellbeing company, will expand the company’s longstanding local support of the programs and mission of the YMCA, helping build stronger, healthier communities across the country.

Amway and YMCA of the USA (Y-USA) leaders announced the $1.2 million dollar gift over the next three years to boost the Y’s anti-hunger initiatives. This contribution expands on collaboration between Amway and the Y, which began with Camp Manitou-Lin and the YMCAs of Greater Grand Rapids 30 years ago. Over that time, Amway’s support has played a key role in advancing the Y’s mission in West Michigan. This new contribution marks a recommitment of valuable assistance from Amway, empowering both organizations to expand their impact and strengthen communities across the United States.

"We are grateful to Amway for its support of our anti-hunger program,” said Suzanne McCormick, President and CEO of Y-USA. "This funding will help the Y meet the essential nutritional needs of more young people in more communities.” Since 1959, Amway has demonstrated an unparalleled dedication to fostering healthier communities. This has come to life in many ways, including Amway’s work with the Y, helping it promote youth development, encourage healthy lifestyles and address critical societal issues through generous contributions, volunteer efforts and a shared vision for strengthening communities.

The impact of the supportive relationship between Amway and the YMCA extends far beyond financial contributions. Amway has actively engaged with local Y branches, volunteering time and expertise to strengthen various programs and initiatives from youth development to providing nutritional basics for families in need.

"Amway is powered by American employees and business owners who are passionate about serving the communities in which we live and work. As an organization deeply rooted in and dedicated to service, we are thrilled to celebrate three decades of working with the Y by expanding and deepening our support," said Andrew Schmidt, Managing Director of Amway North America.

Through more than 4.5 million volunteer hours over the last 20 years, Amway has supported more than 14.5 million people. Initially, Amway’s new investment in the Y will expand this impact by contributing toward after-school nutrition programs. The Y’s vast network of 2,650 locations serve more than 7 million adults and 4 million children across the United States.
