SCS Technologies Becomes 53rd Corporation to Join 1t.org US Community; Commits to Plant 1 Million Trees by 2030

Leading CO2 Compression, Measurement Technology Provider Joins U.S. Corporations, Governments, Non-Profits to Plant 1 Trillion Trees

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SCS Technologies (SCS), a leading provider of CO2 compression and measurement systems, methane vapor recovery units and petroleum LACT units, today announced its pledge to the 1t.org U.S. Chapter to plant 1 million trees by 2030.

Partnering with One Tree Planted, SCS pledges to plant 100 trees for every CO2 measurement and compression skid, methane capture skid (VRU), and petroleum LACT unit it produces to help offset the greenhouse gasses used to produce and operate its products.

“Greenhouse gas compression, measurement, and transport are central to our mission as we help energy companies achieve their net zero emissions goals and also transition our own operations to be more environmentally sustainable,” said Cody Johnson, CEO of SCS Technologies. “We anticipate that our efforts through the 1t.org U.S. pledge will result in the sequestration of 36,000 metric tonnes of carbon by 2030, with an additional 8,000 metric tonnes each year thereafter. To put it in perspective, this amount is approximately twice the CO2e emissions we had in 2023. It's also worth noting that this quantity is roughly equal to the sum of our company's CO2e emissions and twice the CO2e emissions produced by our employees in their personal lives.”

To date, 85 companies like Amazon, HP, and UPS have made public pledges to 1t.org US to conserve, restore and grow trees and forests over the coming decade. In order to join the 1t.org trillion trees platform, companies must set an emissions reduction target aligned with the Paris Agreement, such as a 1.5°C Science-Based Target or a carbon neutral or net-zero goal by or before 2050. SCS Technologies has committed to net zero emissions by 2050 as part of the company’s strategic initiative to mitigate CO2 emissions within its operations.

"We're thrilled to welcome SCS Technologies to our growing community of NGOs, governments and companies that are committed to forest restoration and conservation for the benefit of our climate, health and ecosystems," said Kevin O'Hara, Lead, 1t.org US Chapter. "SCS's commitment to partnerships, innovation and carbon reduction, make them a compelling partner in our effort to conserve, restore and grow 1 trillion trees by 2030 for people, planet and biodiversity."

As a leader in CO2 compression and measurement solutions, SCS Technologies is dedicated to utilizing its expertise and technology to actively support the energy sector in attaining its sustainability objectives. Through its involvement with 1t.org US and SME Climate Hub, and in collaboration with One Tree Planted to plant 1 million trees, SCS is actively nurturing sustainable practices within the energy industry and taking concrete measures towards building a greener future.
