In Honor of Earth Day, Logistics Property Co. Announces LEED® Commitment

Together, we must invest in our planet

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Logistics Property Company, LLC (LPC) is pleased to announce all new developments will aim to achieve LEED®—Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design™—Certification. Earth Day is an important day to pause, reflect, and assess what it means to be engaged advocates for the preservation of the environment.

“LEED® certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement, and we are proud to deliver buildings that have a responsible impact by reducing emissions and other greenhouse gases that are warming the planet and changing the Earth’s climate," said LPC’s Senior Vice President – Head of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Elena Daniel.

This important objective is integrated into LPC’s ESG Framework. As a result of LEED® certification, a building can be independently verified to ensure the design, construction, operations, and maintenance are resource-efficient, high performing, healthy, and cost-effective.

“With the goal of achieving LEED® certification, our team is making a difference in the environment and producing cutting-edge logistics facilities,” said LPC's Executive Vice President – Construction, Phil Adamski.

For building design and construction, LEED® v4.1 allows LPC’s properties to take the lead on key sustainable priorities, including:

  • reduced electricity by at least 30 percent
  • minimized use of indoor and outdoor water
  • enhanced indoor air quality strategies in buildings
  • reduced occupants’ exposure to indoor airborne contaminants, and
  • use of low-emitting materials to reduce concentrations of chemical contaminants that can damage air quality, human health, productivity, and the environment

LPC currently has 17 buildings pre-registered for LEED® certification totaling 10.7 million square feet. This comprises five that are currently under construction totaling 5 million square feet, and twelve that are expected to begin construction later this year totaling 5.7 million square feet.

As developers, operators, and investors, LPC has a responsibility to develop sustainable buildings that reduce its environmental footprint. LPC is proud to honor and celebrate Earth Day. The company will continue to be inspired by its mission to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide, and act responsibly toward our planet.
