Veterans United Home Loans to Host a Flight Back to the ’40s

COLUMBIA, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Veterans United Home Loans, the nation's largest VA purchase lender, is honoring World War II veterans with a Flying into the ’40s event in partnership with Dream Flights. The event will be on Saturday, September 18, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jefferson City Memorial Airport.

“We are proud to be a continued sponsor for Dream Flights,” said Pam Swan, vice president of military relations and business development at Veterans United Home Loans. “This is an amazing opportunity to recognize our World War II veterans in Missouri while also bringing the community together and honor their sacrifice.”

The event will feature a music performance by the orchestra band Kapital Kicks and the Victory Belles, based out of St. Louis. This '40s themed, family-friendly event will also have local food trucks and an opportunity for community members to purchase other commemorative flights on-site. The Missouri Veterans Commission will also attend and support this event by providing local World War II veterans to take flights.

Dream Flights is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving back to those who gave. They honor military veterans and seniors in a historic World War II-era Stearman biplane with flights of a lifetime. From its founding in 2011 to today, the organization has honored more than 4,200 veterans and seniors with free Dream Flights. More than 1,000 World War II veterans will receive free flights as part of Operation September Freedom.

“Through Dream Flights, we are able to give World War II veterans a gift that’s priceless. Who gets to give somebody a gift that changes the rest of their lives?” said Darryl Fisher, founder of Dream Flights. “That’s what we are doing through the partnership between Veterans United and Dream Flights.”

While admission into this event will be free, donations are highly encouraged and will support Dream Flights.
