Rasmussen College Gives Back During 12th Annual Community Service Day

More than 700 Rasmussen employees to volunteer within their own local communities

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college, will give back to its local communities during its 12th annual Community Service Day on Fri., July 17. Around 700 employees from the College’s 24 campus locations, two central offices and one regional office are expected to volunteer more than 2,100 hours to help communities across the country during the annual event.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s community service event will look and feel different to ensure the safety of all College faculty and staff and Rasmussen’s communities. Instead of volunteering together as a campus or office community with a local organization, on July 17, Rasmussen is empowering its employees to volunteer their time and resources to support causes and organizations where they feel most inspired and comfortable.

“Rasmussen College has been committed to making our communities a better place to work and live since 1900. It’s part of our mission and culture, and we look forward to our annual Community Service Day event every year,” said Dr. Ann Leja, interim president of Rasmussen College. “While we cannot come together in-person this year, we know and recognize the need and desire for community service is even greater as a result of the current pandemic and recent social justice concerns and unrest across the country. For this reason, we are asking and encouraging our employees to give back again this year to meet the specific needs of their communities. We hope and believe their volunteer hours will not only positively impact their communities but also be a transformative experience for our employees.”

Employees will participate in a variety of volunteer activities including picking up trash in their local neighborhoods, donating clothes and food to local shelters and making and distributing face masks.

During this year’s Community Service Day, Rasmussen College employees will share their volunteer experience virtually on social media using the hashtag #RasCommunity. You can also see where employees are giving back on the College’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.
