WASHINGTON--()--Healthcare Ready, a nonprofit organization that strengthens healthcare supply chains through collaboration with public health and private sectors, today announced it has received $500,000 from Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. and $100,000 from Stanley Black & Decker to help expand its work to build and enhance the resiliency of communities before, during and after disasters.

“As a nonprofit, Healthcare Ready relies on the support of our donors to be able to respond to the medical needs of patients and communities during a crisis, whether it’s a natural disaster or unprecedented health pandemic,” said Nicolette Louissaint, PhD, executive director of Healthcare Ready. “In the midst of conducting a multi-faceted response to COVID-19, we are also simultaneously preparing communities for the impact of an active hurricane season and could not be more grateful for the generous and timely donations provided by Daiichi Sankyo and Stanley Black & Decker.”

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, Healthcare Ready has supported US supply chain readiness and preparedness efforts leveraging its meaningful partnerships, sharing critical information, and providing solutions to thousands of requests for information and assistance from communities. As an example, to date, Healthcare Ready has helped ensure the donation and delivery of over five million medical supplies throughout the nation working on the federal, state and local levels.

“As an organization dedicated to improving patients’ lives by developing innovative medicines, we are extremely grateful for the unique role Healthcare Ready plays to support healthcare delivery systems so that critical medications are able to get into the hands of those who need them most,” said Ken Keller, President and CEO of Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. “We hope that these additional resources of $500,000 help expand the organization’s response capacity during the health pandemic, especially as the threat of natural disasters remains real and present in society today.”

“We’re proud to support the important work of Healthcare Ready to strengthen our nation’s response to COVID-19 and ensure patients have access to the medicines they need,” said Greg Polk, Vice President of Global Citizenship, Stanley Black & Decker. “Our charitable donation of $100,000 to the organization is part of Stanley Black & Decker’s $10+ million comprehensive COVID-19 philanthropic outreach program to help its communities and employees around the world combat the effects of the pandemic.”
