gA Founder & CEO Roberto Wagmaister Speaks on Ethical Challenges of Artificial Intelligence as Companies Implement the New Technology to Accelerate Growth

MIAMI--()--gA, a global leader in the digital business consulting services for 27 years, joined international entrepreneurs, humanitarians, and industry pioneers at the 2019 Council of the Americas Symposium, the premiere full day business conference for the Western Hemisphere. Roberto Wagmaister, gA’s Founder and CEO, speaking on a panel focused on “Artificial Intelligence: Responsible Growth for Maximum Impact”, shared his perspectives on the critical issues surrounding the ethical challenges of AI technology.

Contenting that we need a human driven technology, one that helps advance society, Wagmaister stressed, “We need a Human Driven technology. I prefer to focus on Augmented Intelligence; AI as an improvement of human intelligence, and not a replacement.”

During an interview with NTN24, Mr. Wagmaister pointed out the urgency of accelerating the pace towards creating more transparent and ethically-driven companies, better government supervision and a wider ecosystem of NGOs setting new behavior standards to facilitate a more responsible use of this new technology. “We cannot stop the progress or the speed of the evolution of AI; yet we need regulations that do not limit creativity, that’s a delicate trade off. And at the same time we need to ensure the protection of individuals, it prompts for a total rethinking of Global Governance.”

Others participating in the panel discussion with Wagmeister included: Marcelo Cabrol, Manager, Social Sector, Inter-American Development Bank; Robert Ivanschitz, Associate General Counsel, Corporate External Legal Affairs, Microsoft Latin America; Carlos Vela-Treviño, Partner, Head of Privacy & Cybersecurity, Baker McKenzie Mexico Offices; And Erich de la Fuente, Partner and Chairman, LLYC U.S.

Following the day’s business sessions, the 25th Anniversary of The Annual Council of the Americas Symposium culminated in the Bravo Awards Gala, featuring an extraordinary lineup of 2019 BRAVO Honorees.
