NEWARK, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Newark-headquartered Sallie Mae® will again award a $25,000 college scholarship to a Delaware high school junior or senior through its Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program. High school counselors and community leaders can nominate students now through Sept. 26.
Sallie Mae’s Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program recognizes students who have excelled both inside and outside of the classroom, but whose financial circumstances or other obstacles in life may not allow them to pursue a college education.
Since 2016, Sallie Mae has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students through the Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program. Last year, Ardavia Lee — a senior at St. Elizabeth School — was Delaware’s recipient of the Bridging the Dream Scholarship. Ardavia was nominated by her high school counselor, Shannan Beck.
“This is truly a special program and I want to encourage my colleagues across the state to nominate deserving students,” said Shannan Beck, director of school counseling services, St. Elizabeth School. “It’s a chance for us to help students in our schools and communities achieve their dreams, pursue their goals and create pathways to success.”
Additional 2018 Bridging the Dream Scholarship recipients, nominated by school counselors or leaders of their local community were: Joe Bell of Gladstone, Missouri; Simone Dobosh of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania; Essence Duplechain of Houston, Texas; Jenna Frezza of Hammond, Indiana; Thanh Le of West Valley City, Utah; and Doug Sullivan of Saraland, Alabama.
