OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--When executives from Ivy Investments and Raymond James Financial Services launched a charity golf tournament 10 years ago, they knew it had a great potential. But they could not foresee the financial impact it would have on children’s hospitals in cities around the country.
A decade later, $225,000 has been raised for children’s hospitals or medical facilities across all host cities.
That total was reached at the 10th annual Raymond James Charity Golf Classic on April 28, when $20,000 was donated to UMC Children’s Hospital in Las Vegas, the third time that city has hosted. The golf classic tees off in a different city each year and this year included 200 golfers gathered from Raymond James, Ivy Investments and their guests.
“Our work overall with Raymond James is about targeting investment solutions for a range of investors, but we realize our partnership can bring an even broader impact, one that benefits children and provides resources for hospitals providing their own solutions: fighting disease, treating illness or injury,” said Joe Moran, Senior Vice President, Head of Intermediary Distribution for Ivy Distributors, Inc. “It is important to us to give back to the communities where we and our clients work and live.”
The charity golf classic began in Nashville in 2010 (and returned there in 2016), and has stopped in Orlando (twice); Dallas; Washington, D.C. (twice) and Las Vegas (three times). Raymond James organizers review different opportunities for locations each year, with the event typically preceding the firm’s annual Elevate national adviser conference.

What inspired the charitable focus of the annual tournament? Both Moran and Curtis say that, while the golf classic is about camaraderie between the firms, it was a mutual decision, and an easy choice to tie the event to a meaningful cause: helping kids and their families during challenging times.
“It’s a way for us to pause and understand that there are a number of unmet health care needs around the country,” said Curtis. “Together with Ivy, doing a small part to help provide support and resources, we’ll continue helping to make a difference for kids and their families.”
